Abstract

Objective:

To design, implement, and evaluate an interesting strategy that fosters active learning through engaging students in the learning process and imbuing them with a sense of ownership over their learning. The strategy could transform the educational experience for students.

Methods:

The strategy had involved reflective reading, critical thinking, crafting class activity, peer teaching, as well as the development of communication and collaboration skills. A survey-based approach was utilized to collect students’ perspectives on the active learning strategy. Additionally, a retrospective study was conducted to quantitatively evaluate the impact of the strategy on learning outcomes.

Results:

Students’ responses indicated that the strategy was well-received and perceived as an effective educational method. Most students expressed that the active learning strategy was reasonable, fostered active learning, enhanced their interest in studying, promoted teamwork, and recommended its continuation in future courses. The quantitative analysis of students’ mean scores did not reveal a significant impact on their academic performance; however, a positive trend was observed.

Conclusion:

The active learning strategy had positive reception among students and showed the potential to improve learning outcomes. This study has emphasized the importance of engaging students in a dynamic and interactive learning environment and enabling them to have autonomy over their learning to enrich the educational experience. It is evident that maintaining and further developing such active learning strategies is crucial for enhancing students' learning.
